Special counsel Jack Smith has filed a new indictment against former President Donald Trump, maintaining the same criminal charges but narrowing the allegations following a Supreme Court opinion granting broad immunity to former presidents. The updated indictment, filed on Tuesday, omits a section accusing Trump of attempting to misuse the Justice Department's law enforcement powers to overturn his election loss.
