New Good Morning Britain presenter announced in line-up change

Good Morning Britain has unveiled a presenter change with a new star coming on to host the show this week. Joining the normal line up will be Radio X broadcaster Gordon Smart.

Smart will be working with regular Charlotte Hawkins on the show before the new year the Mirror reported. He spoke of his excitement and said: “Looking forward to making my debut hosting @gmb this Thursday and Friday with @CharlotteHawkns @itv

"Told my dad about the new gig and he said “better get a spray tan, son. Good. See you bright and early at 6am, 29th and 30th December.” Fans reacted to his Tweet, with Gary McEwan writing: “Not bad for a boy that worked at The Courier. Well in!"

Jen Thomas said: “Amazing news! Congrats.” dblckmn added: “Good luck Gordon. Just don’t be like Adil Ray...!”

In a further statement Smart added: “I’m thrilled to be joining the amazing stable of talent, in front and behind the camera, on Good Morning Britain. So many of the issues facing the country right now are close to home and I’m relishing the chance to join the debate.”

Gordon will present the show on Thursday and Friday from 6am on ITV1 and ITVX, with regular presenters Susanna Reid, Ranvir Singh, Richard Madeley, Kate Garraway, Ben Shephard and Martin Lewis to all return in the New Year. This week Charlotte Hawkins and Rob Rinder are holding down the fort until Gordon steps in.
