New Champions League format will see top five Premier League teams qualify but not Liverpool

EPL Liverpool the Champions League UEFA Champions League

Manchester City or Inter Milan will be crowned Champions League winners tonight before the qualification process and format of the competition changes from next season.

UEFA's new "Swiss" format will come into play from 2024/25, meaning five English Premier League teams are likely to qualify for the top European competition next season.

The number of clubs is due to increase from 32 to 36 in 2024/25, with the group stages being replaced by an extended league phase.
