A popular New Brighton music festival is making a return this weekend following a three-year hiatus.
The New Brighton Music Festival will be celebrating its 30th anniversary with a packed weekend of live music to suit all ages. Heading to Vale Park on August 13 and 14, the line-up features many popular acts from the North West music scene.
Performers include DeePurple UK and Scene Stealers, with Dean Johnson making his last appearance on stage before retirement. Upcoming talent Razzmatazz will be entertaining audiences in their home town with a stellar set as the festival returns for the first time since 2019.

All of the proceeds from the event will be going towards Macmillan Cancer Support. Admission to the festival is by online donation, with the link accessible via a QR code. Alternatively, you can pay in cash.
The festival began in 1992 to coincide with the arrival of the Tall Ships. Organiser, Steve King, said: "With the potential of one million people descending on New Brighton, I wondered: 'what were all these people going to do while they were here?' It was a bit different back then, with a wrecking ball moving down the bottom half of Victoria Road. In fact, the first major sponsor at the time was the demolition company."
In 2015, Steve was diagnosed with prostate cancer and was cared for by Macmillian nurses during his recovery, which inspired him to begin fundraising. In 2019, the New Brighton Music Festival returned after a long hiatus and raised £1,500 for the charity.
This year, in Steve's final year of organising the event, he is hoping to make it the best year yet and raise even more funds for a worthy cause. He said: "I stopped doing all this in 2003, then came out of retirement in 2019 to stage our first Macmillan event and it went very well, but all this is a young person's game! Let's see how much we can raise over the two days for Macmillan Cancer Support - a cause that I truly believe in."
Refreshments will be available to buy on the day from the Coffee Roast at Vale House. A supply of deckchairs will be available to enjoy the music from. Parking restrictions will be applied to the surrounding areas, therefore festival organisers have advised all visitors to walk or use public transport.
