Amazon has announced the launch of another Prime Day event next month. The two-day sale will start on Tuesday, October 11, at midnight and will be exclusive to Prime members.
The online seller's mega sale is separate to the annual Black Friday offers, and next month will be the second time this year it has been held. Everything from fashion and electronics, to toys and everyday essentials will be available to buy at discounted prices.
Coming just six weeks before Black Friday, retailers will roll out discounts to give people a head start on holiday shopping. This perhaps explains Amazon’s decision to the second Prime Day.
The sale normally takes place in the summer, with the exception of 2020 when pandemic-related challenges resulted in an October event. As well as savings on products, Amazon also offers various promotions and incentives leading up to and during the 48-hour period.
July’s Prime Day was the giant retailer’s most successful one yet. Record low prices were recorded for many desired products, including Shark’s vacuum cleaners and the brand’s own Echo dot smart speakers, while Apple’s AirPods and the Apple Watch series also saw price reductions.
John Boumphrey, UK Country Manager of Amazon, said: “Across the UK, our Prime members will get the opportunity to start shopping some of the season’s top deals before anyone else with Amazon’s new Prime early access sale. You may not be ready for panto and mince pies but with fewer than 90 days until Christmas, it’s not too early to start planning your shopping for the festive season ahead, and this exclusive 48-hour sales event will help people save money and shop smarter as we head into the festive season.”
After starting in 2015 as a celebration of Amazon’s 20th anniversary, Prime Day has become one of the biggest sale events of the year. With Amazon offering a free 30-day trial for Prime, shoppers could sign up now to take part in the sale before cancelling at a later date.
