Manchester United have been chasing a deal for Frenkie de Jong for the best part of two months now. He is Erik ten Hag's priority target and the hope is that he will arrive at Old Trafford and significantly upgrade the midfield both in and out of possession.
The Manchester Evening News understands that United have reached an agreement in principle for the midfielder, but we still await confirmation of a deal. Multiple outlets have speculated that this is because of the Catalan club's desire to avoid paying deferred wages to De Jong.
Of course, United fans have grown frustrated due to the lack of activity. While some understand that these things take time, especially when a tangled financial web is involved, others have begged the club to move on and consider other targets.
