The 2026 Met Gala is well and truly underway, with Hollywood’s biggest stars descending upon the famous steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art for fashion’s biggest night.
Amidst the singers, actors, athletes and models who are regular attendees of the annual fundraising gala are a handful of first-timers, including two of the world’s most famous nepo babies.
Blue Ivy Carter attended alongside her parents, Beyoncé and Jay-Z, while Sunday Rose Kidman-Urban walked the red carpet with her mum, Nicole Kidman — and they both broke a major Met Gala rule.

You see, it was announced in 2018 that guests had to be 18 and over to attend the Met Gala, with organisers confirming at the time that it is “not an appropriate event for people under the age of 18”.
Before then, guests had included 13-year-old Elle Fanning, 14-year-old Hailee Steinfeld, 15-year-old Willow Smith, 16-year-olds Saoirse Ronan and Lily-Rose Depp, and 17-year-olds Jaden Smith and Chloë Grace Moretz.
With Blue Ivy just 14 years old and Sunday Rose aged 17, it appears this rule is softening — at least for the children of the event’s co-chairs. Nicole is a three-time co-chair of the Met Gala, while this is Beyoncé’s first time in the role.
Meanwhile, Vogue’s former editor-in-chief and long-time chairperson Anna Wintour added her adult children, Bee and Charles Shaffer, to the guest list alongside their partners.
While no other children walked the red carpet, pregnant South Sudanese-Australian supermodel Adut Akech showed off her baby bump in a sculptural Thom Browne ensemble.
Blake Lively also brought her four children along “in spirit” by carrying a custom box clutch featuring their paintings.
