Neil Warnock speaks out on play-off final controversy after Nottingham Forest ace takes brutal swipe

Neil Warnock says he is "gutted" for former club Huddersfield Town after their Championship play-off final defeat to Nottingham Forest.

The Reds beat the Terriers 1-0 at Wembley on Sunday to earn their place in the Premier League. But they survived two VAR scares during the 90 minutes when Harry Toffolo appeared to be brought down by Jack Colback in the penalty area and Lewis O'Brien had a similar appeal.

VAR ruled there were no offences committed - but Warnock has questioned those decisions.

"So gutted for all you Terriers fans tonight, some very poor decisions, and what were VAR doing?" he said on Twitter.

"You had a great season, better than I think anyone expected and hopefully can go one better next time."

Forest loan star Djed Spence had aimed a dig at Warnock on Twitter after the final whistle.

It was Warnock who loaned him to Forest for the season from Middlesbrough rather than give him a chance at the Riverside Stadium.

And Spence posted a picture of himself with the play-off final trophy in the dressing room after the final whistle, with a cigar in his mouth, alongside the words: "Oh, Where’s my Manners! Welcome to Twitter @warnockofficial."
