Neil Lennon in Todd Cantwell swipe as he tells Rangers midfielder to 'focus on winning games' ahead of Celtic showdown

Neil Lennon has been left unhappy with Rangers midfielder Todd Cantwell's comments in the media, and hinted that the 25-year old has not yet got to grips with the winning mentality required to play for the club.

Ahead of the huge clash with Old Firm rivals Celtic in the semi-final of the Scottish Cup at Hampden on Sunday (April 29), Cantwell expressed his desire to see the Light Blues keep their tag as Scotland's most successful club, by beating the Hoops and retaining the trophy, which they won last season.

Cantwell only joined the Gers from English Championship side Norwich City in January for an undisclosed fee, and has netted two goals in his 14 appearances.

Rangers go into tomorrow's cup clash off the back of a disappointing 2-0 loss to Aberdeen at Pittodrie last Sunday, which came two weeks after a 3-2 defeat to city rivals Celtic earlier in the month.

Former Bhoys manager Lennon has criticised Cantwell for his media boasts, and insists that the former England U21 international needs to focus on helping his side to win games on a consistent basis.

Speaking to Boyle Sports, he said: "If you've lost, it's best to keep your head down and not come out with sound bites because it's too late. The Glasgow public, from both sides, don't take that sort of thing anyway.

"I don't know what Todd Cantwell's comments were, but he needs to know he's in an environment where he needs to win games. Nothing else matters to the Glasgow public.

"The sooner Cantwell is playing in a consistently-winning team then maybe he can make those sorts of quotations, but it doesn't impress anybody."
