An extension to a property built without planning permission 12 years ago has been approved, despite a neighbour claiming the work has blocked light into their home. The work has previously been refused four times before, including by planning officers and a government inspector.
The first application was first refused in 2012, but despite this the massive extension was built anyway. Subsequent retrospective applications were refused, and when an appeal was lodged by the applicant, that too was dismissed, with a Government inspector saying the extension “creates an unacceptably overbearing impact on the neighbours".
An enforcement notice was issued by Bradford Council in 2016 ordering the extension to be pulled down. But this notice has not been complied with.
