The Aussie NCIS Cast Has Been Announced So Here’s The Familiar Faces Fighting Local Crime

Buckle up your utility belt and start blasting “In The Navy” by the Village People, because NCIS: Sydney is coming to our screens very soon and it’s the most exciting thing to come our way since that one time Zac Efron dropped in to flirt with our baristas. I am absolutely geeked for this. Give us Special Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs NOW!

Yep folks, it’s true, NCIS: Sydney is a real thing that is happening. It’s the first time NCIS has gone international too, with other iterations including New Orleans, Los Angeles and Hawaii.

Who is in the NCIS: Sydney cast?

Have you been hypothesising over who will be part of the NCIS: Sydney cast ever since the show was announced last year? Well today’s your day.

Todd Lasance (Home & Away, The Vampire Diaries, Spartacus: War of the Damned) will lead the show as Sergeant Jim “JD” Jempsey and just tell me this role wasn’t made for him. Alongside Lasance will be Olivia Swann (DC’s Legends of Tomorrow) playing NCIS Special Agent Michelle Mackey,

“I’m still pinching myself,” Swann wrote to her Instagram.

“It’s been a blur of excitement, hard work, the best vibes and constant gratitude. And we’ve only just started.⁣⁣

“Our cast is so incredible, the locations are unreal – long story short, this job is a dream come true. ⁣⁣

“What an honour and a privilege it is to be part of this family and this franchise.”

The pair will be joined by Sean Sagar (The Covenant, Mea Culpa) as NCIS Special Agent DeShawn Jackson, Tuuli Narkle (Mystery Road: Origin, Bad Behaviour) as AFP Liaison Officer Constable Evie Cooper, Mavournee Hazel (Shantaram, Halifax: Retribution) as AFP Forensic Scientist, Bluebird ‘Blue’ Gleeson and William McInnes (The Newsreader, Total Control) as AFP Forensic Pathologist, Dr Roy Penrose.

Where can I watch NCIS: Sydney?

The show will be coming to Channel Ten and Paramount+ (for our international friends, or those of us in Australia who like to pay for content that’s free).

When is the NCIS: Sydney release date?

NCIS: Sydney is currently filming in — you guessed it — Sydney but we don’t have an official release date for the show just yet. When the news of the show was first announced last year, entertainment reporter Angela Bishop tweeted that NCIS: Sydney would be airing in 2023.

NCIS: Sydney is exciting for all of us at Paramount and we hope one of the most eagerly anticipated commissions of the year,” Rick Maier, Paramount Australia and New Zealand Head of Drama, told Deadline.

What can we expect?

The show is rumoured to feature a tonne of local stories centring around Sydney Harbour and its adjacent locales, which was kind of obvious given the fact that it’s about naval crime, but still reassuring to hear.

On top of this, it’s been confirmed that Shane Brennan, the Aussie who created NCIS: Los Angeles and was executive producer on NCIS, is on board for NCIS: Sydney. Makes sense, he’s a super-talented Aussie, let him make magic in his home country! There are plenty of local stories to tell around here.

Alongside the random news that NCIS: Sydney is coming also came a bevy of fire-hot memes from folks who love to spend their days on Twitter creating jokes from news stories. I truly envy the speed at which they come up with these gems.

Here are some glorious NCIS: Sydney memes for your perusal:

This next tweet really captured what I was thinking when I heard about NCIS: Sydney. Too many s’s. It doesn’t roll off the tongue.

Give me all the Double Bay drama, please. Rich people committing crimes on the water? Sounds like something I would happily consume while nomming on dinner.

If these tweets are anything to go by, consider me officially keen.
