Rookie Wire released its latest NBA power rankings on Monday, and the Oklahoma City Thunder dropped one spot and landed at 27th overall for the week of Feb. 14 to Feb. 20:
“Thunder rookie Josh Giddey entered the All-Star break playing outstanding basketball after recording three consecutive triple-doubles. He joined Oscar Robertson as the only two rookies in history to accomplish that feat as Giddey is the only teenager to do so.
The recent play even earned him some strong praise from LeBron James.
‘He is really, really, really good. He has a great pace about the game. Great vision. I’ve always loved pass-first guards who can see plays happen before they happen. Josh is one of those kids who can definitely see the game a lot quicker than a lot of guys out on the floor, and he has shown it. I think he has three straight triple-doubles and playing beautiful basketball.'”
The 18-40 Thunder went 1-1 during this short week before heading to All-Star break. The win came in overtime against the New York Knicks while the lose came against the San Antonio Spurs.
During this week, Tre Mann led the team in scoring with 27 points while Josh Giddey led the team in assists and rebounds at 11 and 10.5 respectively.
