NBA legend Dennis Rodman gets huge tattoo of girlfriend on his face

Chicago Bulls legend and NBA Hall of Fame member Dennis Rodman has added to the mysterious allure of his offbeat persona by getting a portrait of his girlfriend tattooed onto his face, whose name wasn't mentioned.

Rodman got his new ink from tattoo artist Van Johnson - an acclaimed artist whose work appears on the reality TV series Black Ink Crew Chicago. Johnson took to his personal Instagram account to show Rodman's new permanent token of affection on his right cheek.

"So I ain't do much today, cooled out at me townhome [and] tattooed a living legend's face of this woman on his face, that's about it. What y'all do," captioned Johnson nonchalantly in the post.

The short video clip depicted the former Bulls rebounder with bleached blonde hair - reminiscent of his NBA playing days throughout the 90s, and a pair of Christian Dior butterfly sunglasses valued at $580 (£451). Rodman later showed off the tattoo through his Instagram account with the caption, "Start your legacy when you're God favored."

In the video, Rodman's girlfriend appeared shocked as she gazed at a portrait of herself. She happily giggled as she stepped in closer to observe the tattoo.

During the 1990s, the renowned basketball player exhibited a consistently rebellious personality, challenging gender norms and societal expectations with his relationship choices and transgressive and unique style. One notable example was when he wore a wedding dress in 1996 to promote his memoir titled "Bad as I Wanna Be."

In ESPN's The Last Dance documentary, there was a scene where Rodman joined the nWo in his professional wrestling debut at Bash at the Beach in 1997. This happened right after he played in Game 3 of the NBA Finals against the Utah Jazz, where he made six rebounds in 22 minutes. However, Rodman decided to skip practice the next day to appear on WCW's Monday Night Nitro in Michigan, which led ex-Bulls Coach Phil Jackson to call Hogan.

Rodman also recently made waves in the NBA world regarding his comments about Boston Celtics legend and NBA Hall of Fame player Larry Bird - who has been recognised as one of the top 75 players in NBA history, with most experts placing him within the top 10.

Rodman stated that Bird wouldn't possess the skills to flourish in today's NBA and would have had to continue his professional career overseas in Europe. Furthermore, he expressed that Bird isn't a better player than Denver Nuggets center Nikola Jokic, who just won his first NBA championship last season after securing back-to-back MVP awards in 2021 and 2022.

Despite criticism and backlash, Rodman has remained steadfast in his commitment to staying true to himself and his unique identity without feeling the need to apologize.

He has earned a reputation as a fierce competitor on the court with his signature flamboyant style and colourful hairdos. Despite some detractors who may not understand or appreciate his individuality, Rodman has continued to be a trailblazer and an inspiration to many who admire his unapologetic approach to life.
