For some reason, 30-year-old Andre Drummond believes he’s in the running to become a Basketball Hall of Famer.
“I’ve done great in my career. I think I have a chance to be a Hall of Fame player due to what I’ve done in my career,” Drummond said on The Uncomfortable Pod this week.
Drummond cited his rebounding statistics as a key reason why, as he believes he’s the best rebounder ever to play the game. His 24.6% rebound percentage is the highest in NBA history, topping Dennis Rodman, Reggie Evans, DeAndre Jordan and Rudy Gobert.
“Best rebounder ever. Ever,” Drummond emphasized.
To Drummond’s credit, he has enjoyed a solid career. He’s a two-time All-Star, was named second-team All-Rookie in 2012 and has been named to one All-NBA team, as a third-team selection in 2015.
However, that probably doesn’t quite equate to a Hall of Fame résumé. Drummond has no championships, and his total of two All-Star appearances isn’t extraordinary, even if his rebounding statistics are. Indeed, Basketball Reference pegs his Hall of Fame probability at just 1.9%.
Naturally, NBA fans couldn’t get enough of Drummond’s claim. Here are some of the best reactions to Drummond’s comments.
