D’Andre Swift is coming home, as the former St. Joseph’s Prep and Georgia Bulldogs star has been traded from Detroit to Philadelphia for multiple picks.
Swift is entering the final year of his rookie deal and will compete with Rashaad Penny, Kenneth Gainwell, Boston Scott, and Trey Sermon for carries.
Detroit gets a 2025 4th-round pick and they’ll swap seventh-round picks with #Lions getting 219, per source. https://t.co/VdontEJOBH

Philadelphia has shored up every offseason need and will now add depth and competition to the roster for training camp.
With the NFL draft now in Round 5, here’s the national reaction to the trade.

Swift will definitely play a role in the passing game.
Only 4 RBs have 40+ receptions in each of the last 3 seasons

Before D'Andre Swift was drafted in 2020, he told @EJSmith94: "[Philadelphia] is where I get my mentality from, I can’t help it. Tough mindset, I’m a gritty guy. I love to compete, never back down from a challenge.

Players are always open to a fresh start, and Swift gets to come home and join a Super Bowl contender.
Lions were aware D'Andre Swift was open to a new home after the team drafted Jahmyr Gibbs, so it got to work on a deal over last 24-36 hours.
Wouldn't surprise if the ultra-aggressive Eagles try to extend Swift already, though he might be eyeing 2024 free agency at this point

Howie has to make sure the talent transitions to NFL productions, but it’s a good start toward continuing a tradition of winning with players expecting to win.
