Nathan Patterson backed to star in EPL for next decade as former Rangers kid handed glowing report

Seamus Coleman has heaped praise on Everton team-mate Nathan Patterson as he tipped him to be lighting up the English Premier League for the next decade.

The former Rangers kid has had to bide his time at Goodison Park since making a big money move south of the border in January. His only appearance in Frank Lampard's top team last term came in an FA Cup clash against Boreham Wood - before he was hooked at half-time.

It is a different story this campaign for the Scotland international who has played every single minute of Everton's three Premiership matches to date against Chelsea, Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest. The ex-Light Blues kid also starred for just over an hour alongside Coleman in the Carabao Cup win over Celtic hero Scott Brown and his Fleetwood Town side.

His fitness and hard-working attitude are just two of the qualities that Coleman has picked out in his young team-mate and he says it is down to the likes of James Tarkowski, Conor Coady, Jordan Pickford and himself to guide him along the way and help him succeed.

Speaking to Everton TV, Coleman said: “First and foremost, I look at the character of the person Nathan is.

"He’s a great lad. He’s really humble and very hard-working.

“On top of that, you can see the quality he has.

“He is still young, but he shows great attributes, bursting forward and playing one-twos. He looks as fit as a fiddle.

“With the likes of myself, Tarky [James Tarkowski], Conor [Coady], Jordan [Pickford] – and there’s lots of other experienced lads in the squad, too.

"It’s our job to help him along the way and make sure he becomes a Premier League player for the next 10 or 12 years because he’s got that ability.”
