Nat-Gas Prices Fall as Force Majeure Lifted on Appalachian Pipeline

October Nymex natural gas (NGV26) on Monday closed down -0.196 (-6.13%).

Nat-gas prices settled sharply lower on Monday after a force majeure was lifted on a gas pipeline in West Virginia, reducing fears of a prolonged outage. TC Energy on Sunday notified customers that the force majeure on the Mountaineer Xpress, part of the Columbia Gas Transmission system, was lifted after repairs to the pipeline. Last Thursday, nat-gas prices surged to a 2.5-month nearest-futures high after TC Energy’s Columbia Gas Transmission pipeline in Appalachia sent out a force majeure to customers due to an “unexpected mechanical issue.”
