Namik Paul on his forced break and returning to TV with a new show

Namik Paul, who was last seen in Kasautii Zindagii Kay Season 2 in 2020, was forced to take a break and stay in Dehradun, his hometown, for two years. The actor shares, “After Kasautii Zindagii Kay ended in 2020, I went to meet my parents in Dehradun for a few weeks. But, I didn’t know that my going to Dehradun would actually work against me. The pandemic struck and makers at that time preferred actors who were based in Mumbai. When I told them I could come back for work, they said the lockdown guidelines would require me to get quarantined for two weeks in Mumbai before starting the shoot and that would hamper their work. That’s how I lost out on many opportunities.”

Namik added, "Dehradun is a small town so it is very beautiful but there are not many work opportunities. So, after you spend quality time with family, you do miss not working. So, I was waiting for a good project to return to Mumbai."

In the last two years, Namik spent time with his family and also took acting lessons, learnt dancing and to play the guitar. And now he is back to work and will be seen playing the lead in the TV show Lag Ja Gale. He says, “I had done two horror shows — Kavach...Maha Shivratri and Ek Deewana Tha. So, I wanted to do something different. This is a love story and it is not about ghosts! It is about this angry young man, who is rich and believes in his own ideas of life. I liked the script and I’m happy to be back at work.”
