An investigation has been launched after a model plummeted to her death while naked in a horror fall from a sixth-floor luxury flat.
Emmily Rodrígues Santos, 26, was visiting businessman Francisco Sáenz Valiente’s apartment in Buenos Aires with two other women when she died after falling in mysterious circumstances.
Valiente, 52, is now being held on suspicion of murder as police in Argentina continue their investigations.
One of the women at the scene, a 37-year-old named only as 'J.M.M', is understood to be a friend of the suspect. The other woman, who was not named, had left the apartment by the time Emmily fell to her death.
Originally from Salvador in Brazil, Emmily had lived in the Argentine capital for several years.
On the evening of the incident Valiente had dined with a group of friends, including J.M.M., before going to a bar in the trendy area of Palermo.
The businessman and the three women then went back to his flat in the Libertad building, located in the upscale neighbourhood of Retiro.
But at around 9am the next morning, emergency services received a call from a neighbour describing loud noises coming from a "disturbed woman", with the person described falling to the ground just a few moments later.
Authorities arriving at the apartment complex found the model lying naked on the ground in the courtyard.
An ambulance arrived to take Rodrígues Santos to hospital, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Neighbours later told local media that the businessman frequently held all-night parties in his home, and that it was common to hear screams and loud noises.
Officers searched the suspect’s home and found bottles of alcohol but no evidence of illegal drugs.
Police noted: “All the rooms had unmade beds, as if they had just been used.”
Investigators are currently attempting to establish whether a fight had broken out in the apartment before the model fell to her death.
Police said J.M.M. had injuries to her hands as well as scratches, adding: "They are signs of a fight.
"The home owner showed no sign of injuries, but an expert opinion has been ordered to establish if he sustained injuries as a result of some kind of struggle."
The victim’s autopsy results have not yet been released.
The suspect, who is currently being held in police custody, meanwhile alleged that the model died after suffering a psychotic breakdown.
Claiming she frantically dashed through the flat before jumping out of the window deliberately, he said: “She started to run like crazy through the apartment, we couldn’t catch her.
“She tried to jump out of a window, but collided with the door.
“Then she saw one open and jumped out of it.”
An ongoing investigation is being overseen by the appointed judge in the case, Martín Del Viso, and prosecutor Santiago Vismara.
