A mystery woman on Tipping Point sparked confusion among viewers who missed the start of the show
Ben Shephard was back today with another set of hopefuls ready to win a £20,000 cash prize. Normally the team is made up of four contestants but today's show had a fifth positioned backstage, leading viewers to ask in unison who she was.
The mystery woman, Elaine, was seen helping a contestant with her drops, telling her which zone to choose and when to press the button on her coins. Appearing via video stream to the contestants and viewers, fans asked who this woman was and why she had a part in today's show.

Taking to Twitter, one viewer said: "Who is that person talking? #TippingPoint."
Though an explanation was given at the start of the show, some viewers remained unaware of who Elaine was. Ben stated contestant Abigale was visually impaired and would receive assistance from her friend when it came to aspects of the show such as where to drop her coins. Speaking to Abigale, Ben said: "In order to help you play today, your friend Elaine is backstage and she's watching everything that is going on.
"She'll be able to advise you via an earpiece as where and when is the best place and time to play your counters. She won't be able to give you any help with your questions unfortunately as much as our independent adjudicator is sat with her but she will assist you with how things are looking in the machine."
Abigale failed to make it through today's show and was eliminated in round one after racking up only £200. The quick exit didn't dampen her mood as she thanked Ben and the studio for ensuring all of her requirements were met. During her farewell, she said: "Thank you ben for the care and attention you and your team have given me today.
