Mystery surrounds deaths of mum and son found dead at home

A coroner says there is 'a piece of the jigsaw puzzle missing' after describing how a happy-go-lucky mother and son were found dead in their beds at home having both taken a powerful drug. Neither had a history of drug use and were in fact against drugs, their family says.

Jenny Smith, 37, and Joseph, 17, were found at their home on February 22, an inquest has heard. Jenny was found under a duvet in the main bedroom, while Joseph was found on a makeshift bed on the living room floor.

Both died from a massive overdose of fentanyl, a synthetic opioid up to 100 times stronger than morphine. Coroner Anita Bhardwaj said the tragic deaths of both mother and son raised questions that would likely never be answered, reports The Echo.
