Mystery as missing influencer, 28, found dead on road after sharing post on Facebook

The dead body of a model and influencer has been found on a Mexican highway after her family reported her missing last week.

Yessica Hernandez Prado, 28, was found dead on a highway in Mexico City on the evening of August 17.

The day before her disappearance on August 11, the model shared a post on Facebook saying: “We will never be this young again, accept that exit, travel, buy what you like so much, give smiles, have f**king fun!!"

Yessica had 36,000 followers on Instagram, where she shared selfies and pictures of her day-to-day life, as well as videos on TikTok with her 47,000 followers.

Her mother Amada Mia Prado reported her as missing on 15 August when she wrote on Facebook: “Hello friends from Cancun and Mexico, I am very worried about my daughter, she left home on Thursday (August 11) and we haven’t heard anything.

"She isn’t answering her phone and I do not know where she is.”

After the model’s body was found, her mother said in an update on 18 August: “The only thing I know so far is that she was found dead on the Mexico-Toluca highway, at kilometre 20, and her body was picked up by the Cuajimalpa ministry.”

She added: “I miss you. You will be my great eternal love.

"Your friends are waiting to say goodbye to you.

"You and your father will always live in my heart.”

According to reports, Hernandez Prado filmed a comedy sketch for Televisa at their studios in Mexico City on the day she disappeared. After the recording, she went out to celebrate and was never heard from again.

The influencer, who started modelling at the age of 14, also worked as a TV presenter on sports segments for Televisa and was known as ‘La Babyy’ on social media.

It remains unclear if Hernandez Prado was the victim of a hit-and-run or whether foul play is expected.

The police investigation is ongoing.

At the end of July, a Chinese influencer was executed for setting his ex-wife on fire and killing her during a livestream.

According to an order by the Supreme People's court, Tang Lu was executed on Saturday following being given the death penalty for intentional homicide in October 2021.

Mr Lu and his wife Lamu divorced in June 2020 after eleven years together. Both worked as influencers on Douyin, the Chinese version of TikTok.

Despite the divorce, Mr Lu repeatedly sought to restore the marriage but was rejected by Lamu, according to a previous statement from the court.

On September 14, 2020, Mr Lu went to his ex-wife's father's house, doused her in petrol and burned her alive as she on was live streaming on social media in the kitchen.

The 30-year-old woman, known online as Lhamo, died of her injuries a few weeks later.

The court said the crime was extremely cruel and Mr Lu deserved the most severe punishment.

Lamu had about 75,000 followers on Douyin where she used to share her life, showing off the Sichuan countryside and often wearing traditional Tibetan clothing in the videos.
