The sudden disappearance of a doctor has left the community baffled.
Dr. John Forsyth, 49, from Missouri, failed to show up for his scheduled shift at Mercy Hospital in Cassville on Sunday evening, prompting concern among his colleagues and loved ones.
Police were alerted when Forsyth's car was discovered abandoned in the Cassville Aquatic center car park, a mere stone's throw away from the hospital.
Police reported that the vehicle's doors were unlocked, with the keys still inside, deepening the mystery surrounding his disappearance.
The last known sighting of Dr. Forsyth occurred on Sunday morning when he left his trailer near the hospital at approximately 7am.
Investigators found two cell phones in his house, but their search efforts, including the use of search dogs and a heat signature drone, resulted in no significant findings.
In a heartfelt plea on social media, Tiffany Andelin, Forsyth's sister, reached out to the public for any information that could aid in locating her missing brother.
She wrote on Facebook, "My brother is missing. If anyone knows anything, please contact us. I’m so worried, I’m a mess. That’s all I can say right now."
Andelin emphasized that her brother, having served as a doctor in the Aurora area for many years, would likely be recognizable to many residents in the local community.
Forsyth's brother, who preferred to remain unnamed, expressed his concern about the uncharacteristic nature of his disappearance.
Speaking to KOLR, he said, "This is very unusual for him, this is a punctual man who's never missed a day of work in his life. Not even for being sick."
He described the discovery of Forsyth's car by Highway Patrol as being in a "very odd location," he lauded his brother's qualities.
He said: "He is a very good, generous, kind and patient man. He is a person admired by a lot of people. He is a great doctor who works very hard, who has given a lot of his free time to helping people. He is like a guardian angel to me."
The missing doctor is described as approximately 5 feet, 11 inches tall, weighing 180 pounds.
He was last seen wearing a black shirt with blue/grey pants. As the search for Dr. Forsyth intensifies, the community remains hopeful for his safe return, clinging to the memories of the compassionate physician who touched the lives of countless individuals.
Dr. Forsyth's fiancée, who wished to remain anonymous, shared her concerns about his behaviour, describing it as "odd." She revealed that she has had no contact with him since his disappearance.
Local authorities, while actively investigating the case, have assured the public that they do not believe there is a threat to the community's safety at this time.
They are urging anyone with information about Dr. John Forsyth's whereabouts to contact the police or his family directly.
