Recent days have seen a surge in mysterious drone activity in northern New Jersey, with multiple sightings reported in Somerset and Morris counties. The drones were observed flying over various locations, including President-elect Trump's Bedminster golf club.
Residents have captured videos showing drones in the skies on several occasions, such as December 1 and December 3. One video from November 25, filmed by a Morris County resident, showed drones hovering over Black River Middle School in Chester.
The proximity of these sightings to Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, located in Somerset County, has raised concerns. Additional drone sightings were reported in towns like Bernardsville, Mendham, and Parsippany.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) confirmed the presence of an unusual drone in northern and central New Jersey skies on November 18. In response, the FAA issued temporary flight restrictions, including one over the Trump property that will remain in effect until the end of the week.
Another flight restriction was imposed over Picatinny Arsenal Military Base, a U.S. Army research center, and is set to last until December 26. The FAA emphasized the importance of safely integrating drones into the National Airspace System and stated that they investigate all reports of unauthorized drone operations.
The Morris County Sheriff's Office, in collaboration with other agencies like the New Jersey State Police and the Somerset County Prosecutor's Office, is actively investigating the drone incidents to gather more information.
