Chelsea have confirmed the signing of Shakhtar Donetsk winger Mykhailo Mudryk on an eight-and-a-half-year deal during their clash with Crystal Palace. The Blues are said to have paid up to £88million to land the 22-year-old as their fifth signing of the January transfer window.
It's a huge deal in a saga that has had many twists and turns since the summer, with rivals Arsenal eyeing up a move for the forward. They missed out last summer and once the January window opened, lodged three bids to Shakhtar that were eventually rejected due to their valuation.
The Ukraine international dropped plenty of hints over wanting a transfer, hosting media interviews discussing such as well as dropping hints on social media. However, the Blues moved quickly to ensure they could pip their rivals to Mudryk this month.
