Murder accused to stand trial charged with murdering man then dumping body at Scots hospital

A suspect is to stand trial charged with murdering a man then dumping his body in the grounds of a hospital.

Ben McCulloch is accused of killing Stephen Quigley, 26, at a flat in Barrhead, Renfrewshire on March 23 2021.

Prosecutors claim the 27-year-old inflicted blunt force injuries to Mr Quigley's head and body by means unknown and also struck him with a knife.

McCulloch then faces a separate charge of attempting to defeat the ends of justice between the day of the alleged murder and April 8 2021.

Locations in the allegation include Renfrewshire, Ayrshire, Edinburgh and Newcastle.

It is said McCulloch transported Mr Quigley's "severely injured" body in a car and abandoned him in a secluded area of the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley without getting medical help.

The charge also includes an accusation that he arranged for his mother Debra Harvey, 50, to clean the flat in Barrhead.

Harvey along with 55 year-old Mary Anne Harvey, both of Barrhead, also face a separate attempt to defeat the ends of justice allegation together.

It is said they did "impede, obstruct or hinder" police from conducting a full investigation into the alleged killing.

Lawyers for the trio pled not guilty on their behalf during a hearing at the High Court in Glasgow today.

Lady Stacey fixed a trial due to begin in August.
