Mumbai Tech Week 2026 returns with AI in action

Mumbai Tech Week (MTW) 2026, an AI-focused event organised by the Tech Entrepreneurs Association of Mumbai (TEAM) and the Government of Maharashtra (GoM), with support from Meta, returns for its third edition on 29–30 May 2026 at the Jio World Convention Centre. Since its inception, MTW has brought together startups, investors, developers, policymakers, and global technology leaders.

In its third edition, the event focuses on the transition from experimentation to real-world deployment, highlighting how AI is being used by businesses for efficiency and innovation. This year’s edition includes AI showcases from global and Indian technology companies and startups, demonstrating how AI is being applied across sectors.

Harsh Jain, Co-chair, Governing Council, TEAM said in a statement, "The competitive advantage in AI has shifted. It's no longer about understanding it, it's about implementing it. The companies pulling ahead are the ones moving from pilots to production and weaving AI into how their business actually runs. That's why platforms like Mumbai Tech Week are valuable — they show the ecosystem what's working in the real world, not just in theory."

As per industry estimates, AI is projected to contribute over $450–500 billion to India's GDP. Mumbai's startup ecosystem could grow to 100+ unicorns by 2035, with AI-driven businesses expected to contribute up to 15% of the city's GDP growth and attract over $450 billion in foreign investment over the next decade. Mumbai stands at the centre of India's AI infrastructure buildout — leading the country's data centre expansion driven by surging AI workloads and strong enterprise demand, with global and domestic players investing in large-scale capacity.

The event will feature participation from industry leaders, including Irina Ghose, Managing Director at Anthropic India, and Arun Srinivas, MD and Country Head, Meta India.

In the lead-up to MTW (May 25–28, 2026), a series of satellite events will take place across the city. Hosted by TEAM member companies and ecosystem partners, these sessions will be held at offices and community spaces across Mumbai, including workshops, hackathons, meetups, and founder-led interactions, aimed at facilitating participation and knowledge exchange.

Naiyya Saggi, Governing Council Member, TEAM added, "Every technology wave has had a defining city, and Mumbai has the ingredients to play that role for AI in India. Its unique advantage is proximity — where capital, enterprises, and consumers are closely interconnected, allowing ideas to move quickly from concept to adoption. Over time, that ability to translate intent into execution is what will position Mumbai as a city that shapes how AI is built and applied, not just where it is discussed."
