MUMBAI: If the blaze at Wadia Pediatric Hospital, Parel, was well controlled on Friday evening, a part of the credit should go to the functional fire-fighting system in the building and trained staff, fire officials said.
Each hospital floor had fire marshals who immediately took charge of the situation even as the wet riser system, fire alarm, smoke ventilators were activated, ensuring fire-fighting operations were underway. A senior fire brigade official said the hospital staff's response was excellent. “The staff who smelled the fire immediately alerted others and our first arriving officer at the site was briefed as well,” said the official.
