MUMBAI: Maharashtra's biggest festival of Ganeshotsav will take place after a fortnight from September 19-28. However, in an informal unveiling, devotees will get a first glimpse of the grand, beautiful idols, online and offline, before the actual installation.
Beginning Sunday September 3, the giant-sized, popular moortis will be led from their workshops to the pandals. The 'aagman yatra' (arrival procession) is accompanied by hundreds, often thousands of people, though not on the grand scale as the 'visarjan' procession. Mandals now advertise their 'aagman sohala' on social media, hoping to draw large crowds. They usually choose the weekend for their procession so that footfalls are high and office-goers are not inconvenienced.
