A man has appeared in court charged with the attempted murder of an “innocent bystander” who was with her three year old child at the Notting Hill Carnival.

Cher Maximen, 32, remains in a critical condition after she was stabbed on Sunday after she tried to save a man who was being attacked, Westminster Magistrates’ Court heard.
