A mum-of-two ended up spending nearly a month in hospital after suffering a stroke, but initially believed she only had a hangover. The hairdresser fell ill the day after a friend’s pre-wedding celebration and just thought she had had too much to drink.
When her symptoms became worse her friend contacted the emergency services and Francesca Murray was airlifted to hospital for treatment. The 45-year-old, from Dublin, remained at Cork University Hospital (CUH) for almost a month to learn how to walk and talk again.
Two years after the stroke medics have praised Ms Murray as “incredible” and she’s now preparing to run a mini-marathon to raise money for the health teams that helped in her time of need. She told Cork Live how in June 2020 she was celebrating a friend’s forthcoming wedding in Kerry which had been postponed due to Covid-19.
