Mum stole £140k from estate agent job by making fake landlord bank accounts

A mum stole nearly £140,000 from her estate agent job by transferring funds to a number of fake landlord accounts that she managed.

Wendy Dare, 57, abused her position at a Chester letting agents by moving approximately £138,000 worth of company funds to bank accounts set up in the names of herself, her husband and their daughter. Chester Crown Court heard Dare, of Southport Road, Ormskirk, worked at the unnamed estate agents between May 2015 and December 2020.

As part of her role as a lettings manager she had access to the company's accounts. In June of 2021, the estate agents were informed of an issue in which a payment of around £23,000 designated to one of their landlord clients could not be accounted for.
