Mum shares 'easiest' air fryer cleaning hack - with no scrubbing required

With economically friendly air fryers currently at the top of many people's Christmas lists, home cooks are flocking to give the kitchen gadget a go. Of course, as we all know, every homecooked meal requires a bit of washing up, and at first glance, air fryers look a bit fiddly in this regard.

However, getting your air fryer sparkling once more needn't be a trial, as recently demonstrated by savvy mum and home hacks guru, Carolina McCauley. According to Carolina, you can get your air fryer looking as 'good as new' without spending all evening scrubbing away, simply by following her easy-peasy deep clean method.

Taking to TikTok, where she goes by the username @carolina.mccauley, Carolina began with step one of her tried and trusted method, adding 1 tbsp of washing up liquid and one cup of baking soda (25g) to her air fryer drawer and covering this with hot water.

She then left the mixture alone to work its magic for a good 20 minutes before taking the drawer out and emptying the dirty water down the sink. Then it was time to rinse thoroughly before proclaiming the formerly grubby drawer to be 'as good as new'.

Various foodies have been sharing their favourite air fryer hacks as the ongoing cost of living crisis pushes more people to consider alternative methods of cooking. One recipe that has proven to be particularly popular is air fryer pizza, which TikTok user Becky Excell hailed as 'literally foolproof'.

Sharing footage of her hack on Facebook, Becky, who goes by the username @beckyexcell, demonstrated taking her gluten-free dough - which is made up of 260g Greek yoghurt mixed with 250g of self-raising flour - and rolling this out on baking paper, right out to the size of her air fryer basket.

Becky enthused: "Air fry the base for six minutes at 200C then flip, add the toppings and cook for three to four more minutes. [..] Obviously the size of the pizza depends on the size of your air fryer but if yours is smaller, you can make loads of diddy pizzas."

"Still super delicious as well as being so quick and easy to make. It's basically like a mini pizza oven!"
