A mum has warned against the dangers of weight loss surgery after her 25-year-old son died following an operation abroad.

Joe Thornley, from Derbyshire, had travelled to Istanbul, in Turkey, for a gastric sleeve procedure. This is an operation in which a large part of the stomach is cut away.

Gastric sleeves and bypasses can be bought for £3k at some hospitals in Turkey. Increasing numbers are turning to them, as NHS waiting lists hit huge numbers, reports Birmingham Live.
