Mum's horror after two-year-old son escapes from nursery and crosses busy road

A horrified mum has spoken of her 'shock' after being told her two-year-old son had escaped from nursery and crossed a busy road alone. Shannan Lees, 24, from Denton, received the distressing call last Friday (September 16) and found out that her son Harvey had been picked up by a concerned woman after she noticed the tot walking down the street by himself.

The kind stranger immediately stopped her car after spotting the youngster cross Tame Street and continue down Quebec Street and alerted the police. She then took Harvey to Sky High Achievers The Bungalow day nursery on Ashton Road - where it turned out the little boy had escaped from, Manchester Evening News reports.

Shannon said her son 'could've ended up dead' had the passer-by not intervened and has since removed Harvey from the nursery which had been highly recommended by a friend. Since the incident, the parent has found it difficult to find another place for her youngster elsewhere and says she will 'struggle to leave her son with anyone else' after the distressing ordeal.
