When it comes to children's names, people will often butcher them and make spelling blunders, but if there's anyone you'd expect to get it right, it's their parents. However, one mum has been left bewildered after realising her husband has been misspelling their son's name for the last five months.
The unnamed parent took to Reddit's Name Nerds forum to share her bafflement over her partner's error, explaining that he's not the only one doing this, all of his friends have also been guilty of making the same mistake. The woman shared how she'd been wondering why pals kept spelling their son's name as Issac instead of Isaac, but it turned out it was all due to her husband.

She wrote: "My son’s name is Isaac. He is 5 months old. I’ve been wondering why all of my husband’s friends spell it 'Issac'. Today I realised that they spell it that way because HE spells it that way.
"He announced it that way, that is how he refers to him in all his messages. He sends his grandma photo postcards and that is how he spells his name on those.
"Why? Autocorrect.
"Send help."
They added in the comments: "I did not expect these issues with such a common name!
"It has really p***ed me off! As a one-off it’s fine, autocorrect is silly, haha etc. But it’s every time and he’s never noticed?! He hasn’t even noticed that everyone else now does the same thing. Mind blown. If someone spells my baby’s name wrong to me then I definitely notice…because he’s my flipping baby!"
Hundreds of people have since responded to the post, with many joking they hoped her husband hadn't filled out the birth certificate. Others shared their own stories of names being spelt wrong.
One said: "My cousin realised he'd been spelling his name 'wrong' when he was 16. His parents spelt it Zachery on his birth certificate but he was taught to spell it Zachary.
"They also spelt his sister's name as Haylee because they didn't know there was any other way to spell it (it's commonly spelt Hayley in Australia)."
Another replied: "My FIL spelt my husband’s name wrong on the birth certificate. Best part? He’s named after his dad. So, I have to ask him every time I fill something out bc I can’t remember how it’s spelt."
Someone else added: "My dad can’t spell my name. And to make matters worse, he made my mom change the spelling she liked (which would have made the pronunciation of my name more intuitive). So, I have a name that is constantly mispronounced thanks to my dad who can’t even spell my name."
