A mum-of-two has spoken of her horror after learning the bloating and constipation she thought was caused by irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) was actually bowel cancer.
Maryrose McCready, 37, from County Derry in Northern Ireland, initially believed she was suffering with the common ailment, which presents as bloating and constipation.
Thinking she was reacting badly to food, she made drastic changes to her diet, which helped for a while - but her symptoms reared up again and persisted until they led to a rectal prolapse.
