A mum who thought she'd beaten cancer got the devastating news that it had returned - and is now fighting to stay around as long as she can. Michelle Hillard, 42, was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2018.
She had one of her breast removed and for a time it looked like she had overcome the illness. But it returned in her liver and she had to have half of that removed.
Despite that, she was given the news that her cancer could not be cured. Now she and friend Lisa Walden are raising as much cash as they can for private treatment that could extend her life, reports GrimsbyLive.
Lisa said Michelle, who lives in Lincolnshire with husband Chris, son Addison and daughter Dorri, had several chemo treatment and took tablets, but they have now stopped working.
Lisa added: "Back in 2018, we were told she had around five years left and now we're a couple of weeks away from that. Recent treatments haven't worked and now we're looking at some other options, such as private treatment in Manchester.
"I've decided to raise money to help her get the treatment she needs and even if I can raise a chunk of that for her it'll be worth it. I'm supporting her as much as I can, but there's nothing I can do to fix it sadly."
Michelle and Lisa have known each other for 24 years and Lisa introduced her to her now husband Chris.
"We're like sisters really, we've been there for each other when we've needed help, she's my right arm," she added: "When I found out about the diagnosis, I was devastated.
"We were going to Magaluf on a girl's holiday two days after, but she still went and enjoyed herself. How she's managed to carry on so well I don't know, she's the most amazing person."
