Mum killed by dogs was 'dedicated' John Moores University worker

A mum and nan who was killed in a dog attack was a "dedicated" university worker.

Ann Dunn was mauled to death at a home in St Brigids Crescent, Vauxhall, at 4.25pm on Monday, October 3. Merseyside police confirmed that an investigation was launched after she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Five American bulldogs, which were inside the property, were handed over and have since been humanely destroyed. A 31-year-old man who was arrested on suspicion of owning a dog dangerously out of control has been released on conditional bail.

Tributes have flooded in for the 65-year-old who was a cleaner at Liverpool John Moores University. In a touching statement, a spokesperson for the university said: "The university community is absolutely shocked and devastated by this tragic loss and to lose Ann in this way is just heart-breaking.

"Ann was hard-working and dedicated and had so many friends across the organisation. It’s just awful and she will be terribly missed. Our thoughts at this time are with her family and loved-ones."

Posting to Facebook, Jane Shaw said: "Thinking of Ann's family. Always a smile and time for you. A lovely work colleague. RIP Ann taken too soon."

Carol Gill said: "My lovely friend Ann so glad I got to go to Turkey with you again in July RIP Ann." Melissa Montgomery said: "Lovely Ann , lovely person, she was. RIP Ann, can’t believe this has happened to you, so heartbreaking. Thinking of Ann’s children and family at this terrible time."

Dominique Flynn said: "Rest in peace Ann such a lovely lady. Always smiling, laughing and cleaning thinking of Ann's family and kids at this sad time." Natalie Fagan said: "So sad truly devastated we all are! Wat a lovely lady you were! Loved by all that new you, will cherish memories of you xx"

Julie Bennett said: "Rest in peace Ann what a lovely person you was always had something nice to say just a gorgeous person."

Detective Inspector Katie Coote said: "This is clearly a very distressing incident and our thoughts are with the family and friends of the lady who died."
