Mum hits back at cruel trolls who criticise her daughter's 'meaningful' name

A mum-of-three has hit back at trolls who criticised her baby daughter's name by sharing the heartbreaking explanation behind it. Sharing her emotional story on TikTok, Lisa Marie-Thompson silenced online trolls when she said she was gifted a "second chance" with her twin rainbow babies.

Following the death of her daughter, who she had planned to call Bluebell, in August 2021, the 28-year-old was left heartbroken. The tot had been diagnosed with anencephaly, a devastating illness, which is fatal. The condition means a baby's skull does not form properly in the womb and with no cure, it meant Lisa had to give birth to her baby four months into her pregnancy, HullLive reports.

In what she describes as her 'second chance', the mum fell pregnant in November 2021 with twins - and immediately knew how to honour her firstborn, after finding out she was having a boy and a girl.

In honour of her daughter, she named her daughter Bluebelle, and she shared the name online - alongside her brother Edward.

Now, the duo are three months old and thriving and while Lisa feels the name pays tribute to her daughter that she never got to spend time with, she was left devastated by the harsh comments she got after sharing the name online.

The mum said: "Obviously the comments were upsetting, but I don't get why people felt the need to say 'she'll suffer' because of the name I chose. If you really don't like it then you can just keep scrolling and carry on with your day.

"She doesn't even know what bullying is yet and already people were telling her that's what would happen when she goes to school." She added: "The video was only supposed to be about how cute she was in that moment and it got turned into something else.

"Although I was upset by the comments, I was more shocked at how nice other people were. There was just no need to make me feel bad about my daughter's name. However, it was nice to see people say it was a good name too."

The video now has more than 600 comments, most of which are in support of Bluebelle's name, with some people even saying they will call their own daughter it in support.

However, for Lisa and her family, the reason behind Bluebelle's name is more important than any comment she may have received.

She said: "I fell pregnant last year and everything was fine until the 12-week scan. Here, we were told she had a fatal birth defect which meant she wouldn't survive. The hardest part was telling my six-year-old old daughter Ivy-Jane.

"She was so excited to have a baby sister and we had to tell her she was poorly and wouldn't be coming anymore. That really affected her and I found it totally heartbreaking to be honest. You could see the pain in her eyes.

"Thankfully, she loves her new brother and sister and everyone is doing really well. We feel like we've been given a second chance with Bluebelle and Edward, we're so lucky."
