Mum has months to live just after getting married as IBS turned out to be cancer

A mum-of-three has been given less than 18 months to live after her 'IBS' turned out to be terminal stomach cancer just weeks after getting married. Shona Johnson started suffering with belly cramps, bloating and weight loss back in March 2021 but claims medics put her symptoms down to IBS and a hernia because of her age.

The 33-year-old was sent for a CT scan and had a camera inserted into her throat which didn't detect the cancer and Shona says she was relieved when she was reassured that there was no cause for concern. But in May this year, Shona was in so much pain that her family rushed her to hospital where fluids were taken from her stomach to be tested and she was finally diagnosed with stage four stomach cancer.

Shona married her partner of ten years in March and was about to set up an events business when she was diagnosed. She is undergoing chemo to prolong her life and spending time with new husband Jahred, 28, and children, Kelsey, eight, Alijah, five, and Kaya, three.
