Mum faceplants on grass at school sports day and moons crowds of parents

An unlucky mum has shrugged off a sporting slip up, after faceplanting the grass and mooning her child's entire school during a parent's flat race on sports day. Katie Hannaford has managed to laugh off the clumsy error, saying she now finds it hilarious.

Katie was taking part in the annual mum's race at her daughter's end of year school sports day when the fall took place. Unfortunately for the mum, the race was being filmed on June 15 and the footage has now gone viral on the internet after being posted on social media.

Katie, who wrote in an initial post on Facebook before it emerged saying: “Great day at sports day for my little cherub. Come first in her race as well; love her. Lessons learnt… I’m no longer 21 and shouldn’t run in the mums’ race and don’t ever wear a dress when running!”

In a later post on her public Facebook account she shared a TikTok post of the clip which was already on its way to going viral, adding: “When the kids got more at sports day than they were expecting! Haha. If you can’t laugh at yourself then what’s life about ay! Sorry kiddos and anyone else watching!”

A Facebook friend of Katie’s commented on her post saying: “Omg thanks for sharing the video, got me bloody howling.” Various posts on TikTok sharing the same clip have been viewed thousands of times but clearly Katie isn’t fazed by her newfound fame, seeing the funny side, according to MyLondon.

Katie from Basildon, Essex, said: “I’m not sporty at all, but [my daughter] kept begging me. In the end I agreed to the race - I knew I’d come last. I just tripped over my own feet. I think my body was just moving too fast for my legs! I’m so clumsy, I’m always falling over.

“I was humiliated at the time, but it is what it is! I flashed my underwear, which is obviously embarrassing, but you just have to own it. Looking back, it’s hilarious - definitely the funniest thing I’ve ever done in my life!”
