Samaritan Health Services, the five-hospital system serving Corvallis, Albany, Lebanon, Lincoln City, and Newport, will join Tacoma, Washington-based MultiCare Health System on Nov. 1. The deal comes with a $700 million, 10-year investment pledge, and Oregon's approval attaches conditions that require regular reports on whether that money is spent.
All public agencies reviewing the deal have approved it or announced their intent to, according to an Oct. 12 joint release reported by Becker's Hospital Review. Samaritan serves more than 290,000 residents in the mid-Willamette Valley and on the central coast and will keep its name, local leadership, and community-based governance. MultiCare operates 13 hospitals in Washington and more than 300 care locations across Washington, Idaho, and Oregon.
