TV presenter Muireann O’Connell has revealed she was “fascinated” when she found out swinging was “huge” in Ireland.
The Limerick star was speaking to her co-host, comedian Emma Doran, on their podcast And Another Thing.
She told her: “I didn’t know anything about this. You know out at the airport? Dublin Airport? And I think you can say in Shannon and Cork as well – not Knock, because nothing bad would ever happen in holy Knock, right?
“Where the planes are coming in... they’re massive dogging spots.

“So, if you have a family member who’s mad to go out at night time to watch the planes coming in, I think you need to start thinking about it in a different way.”
Host Muireann explained where she got her information.
She said: “There is a Dr Caroline West – she works in University, Galway – and she’s got a podcast called Going West and she delves into the world of sex in Ireland.
“She is a fascinating, funny, brilliant woman and she sometimes comes on Ireland AM.
“She was telling us stuff recently and she was like, dogging and king parties and swingers are huge in Ireland. I was like, sorry?
“I said to someone from outside the pale, like a lot of us are, it’s really interesting and she was like, ‘Does this not happen where you’re from?’
“So she’s from the country and the parties are everywhere – it’s just a normal thing.
“It’s just known – oh, there’ll be a swingers’ party on there on a Saturday night. This is in the local area where she’s from.”
Muireann said it’s time to find out what’s going on with the neighbours.
She added: “I just think all of that stuff is fascinating.”
