Michigan State basketball will not return to the court until Friday, which is exactly what it was hoping for entering Sunday.
The Spartans were able to watch the rest of the league on Sunday, and the results went their way, giving them the No. 4 seed and a double-bye in the Big Ten Tournament. The other three teams finishing with the double-bye are Purdue (No. 1 seed), Northwestern (No. 2) and Indiana (No. 3).
Michigan State beat Ohio State on Saturday afternoon to end the regular season 19-11 overall and 11-8 in conference. On Sunday, wins by Penn State over Maryland, Purdue over Illinois and Nebraska over Iowa bumped the Spartans to the No. 4 seed. Michigan State would have moved up to the No. 3 seed had Rutgers also won at home against Northwestern.
Michigan State will face the winner between No. 5 Iowa and the No. 12 Wisconsin/No. 13 Ohio State winner on Friday at approximately 2:30 p.m. ET.
