Sophie created her Instagram account, mrshinchhome, in March 2018, initially to show how she and her husband were decorating their house.

Within two years, she had accumulated two million followers on the platform, known as Hinchers, that use the hashtag #HinchArmy online.

The mother-of-one, 31, has bravely revealed the 'darker' side of her fame in her new book This Is Me: A Memoir.

Mrs Hinch fans felt so inspired they began creating their own social media groups dedicated to cleaning in order to share their own cleaning hacks and tips.

One of the extremely popular Mrs Hinch Army cleaning groups is “Mrs Hinch Cleaning Tips”, where fans of the cleaning guru exchange cost-effective tips and hacks that can save you lots of money.

A Facebook user, Charlotte Warren asked the group: “Hey I wonder if people can help me, why does shaving foam seem to get stains out? Also what stains have people used it on and know 100% sure it works on?”

Within minutes of sharing her post, several Mrs Hinch enthusiasts shared their hack of using shaving foam (that must be white and not gel) to remove tough stains on carpets, saucepans, car seats, and sofas, upholstery and more.

Fans of the cleaning star recommended spraying the shaving foam on the surface you’re trying to remove stains from.

You can assess how bad the stain is and the amount of time you leave the foam soaking will depend on the fabric or surface.

One response said: “I’ve noticed this. It seems to remove stains off carpets sofas etc.”

While another said: “I’ve just cleaned our fabric sofa with it. I applied the foam to the dry sofa scrubbing the foam into the fabric. Left it for 2 hours using a cloth wrung out well and wiped it all off going over it twice. Left it to dry and hoovered it this morning. The sofa looks brand new. So pleased with the result”

Another said: “The white shaving foam is best. We recently had some stains on our carpets and the foam worked a treat.”

“Bathroom mirrors! Spray on, give it a good rub, wipe down & no more steamed up mirrors!”

“I used it to get eyeliner off that was smudged into the carpet, brilliant.”

Instructions

Fans advise spraying the foam on and wiping it into the material with a sponge or cloth.

Then leave it for 20 to 30 minutes and with a damp cloth rub the area.

Rinse the cloth regularly and repeat until you’ve removed all the foam residue and the cloth runs clear underwater.

Towel dry to take off the excess moisture and allow to air dry.

You can get the shaving foam at Aldi or Tesco.
