Mouldy windows banished by 'magic' 95p spray that takes just 10 minutes to work

People battling condensation and mould this winter aren't alone as households across the UK struggle with damp.

The return of the fungus is like clockwork every year. As soon as temperatures drop, streaky windows in the morning can turn into mould-encrusted surfaces in seemingly no time at all.

Luckily, Mrs Hinch fans across the UK have come together to share their best strategies. If you're having trouble cleaning mouldy windows, there's a quick and cheap option clean freaks are swearing by.

A post to a Facebook page dedicated to the Instagram cleaning sensation revealed a popular solution, the Mirror reported.

One user asked: "What's the best way to get black mould off a window frame?"

The question attracted over 120 answers and the most recommended fix turned out to be the budget-friendly Astonish Mould & Mildew Blaster.

Astonish's spray can be bought for as little as 95p at Wilko or 99p at Asda. It can also be snapped up £1 at B&M or £1.25 at Morrisons.

"The fastest and best way to remove mould or mildew is to use the Astonish mould spray. It's magic, it only takes 10 minutes to work," one person said.

Another added: "I agree Astonish spray, does the job and leaves a lovely clean smell. I have a bottle on the go and a bottle in reserve."

But first, one user advised wiping off any condensation from windows before putting the spray to work.

The comment read: "Astonish mould spray will do the trick. Spray it then leave it a while. Then clean off with soapy water and a cloth.

"I also wipe any condensation away with an old towel when needed. This helps to prevent mould in the first place."

According to the Astonish website, the spray is ideal for use on walls, uPVC window frames, glass, plastic shower curtains, bathroom tiles, grout, silicone sealant, concrete, sinks and plugholes.

Simply spritz the area where you've got mould, leave it for a few minutes, then rinse or wipe clean.

For vertical surfaces, it's recommended to spray it onto a sponge or cloth to avoid it running off.

If you're looking for a more permanent solution, a clever dad has said mould "never returned" after he installed a Positive Input Ventilation (PIV) unit in his loft.
