Motorists urged to avoid major road closure after serious collision

THE A737 in North Ayrshire has been closed following a serious collision.

Traffic Scotland is reporting the incident between Dalry and Kilwinning, which took place at around 4pm this afternoon.

The organisation is urging motorists to use an alternative route.

It has not been confirmed how many vehicles were involved or whether there have been any injuries.

A Stagecoach spokesperson said: "Due to a road closure on the A737 at Dalgarven the 25 service will be diverted via the B714, A78 and Stevenston Road in both directions.

"We will not be able to service Dalry Road in Kilwinning. An update to following once the road re-opens."

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 3.50pm on Tuesday, 9 January, 2024, officers received a report of a two vehicle crash on the A737 near Kilwinning.

“Emergency services are in attendance and the road is closed.”
