Motorcyclist injured in crash on popular tourist route in Highlands

A MOTORCYCLIST has been taken to hospital following a crash on the popular tourist route in the Highlands.

The crash happened at Berriedale Braes on the A9, which is part of the NC500 route, at around 11.40pm on Thursday.

The collision did not involve any other vehicles.

Earlier on Thursday evening there was another crash on the A9 after a car and a recovery vehicle collided at the Glentruim junction in the Highlands at around 6.30pm.

Emergency services attended and six people were taken to hospital.

The drivers of both vehicles were arrested.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said the road at Berriedale Braes was closed to allow for recovery and reopened around 2.50am on Friday.
