A tragic incident unfolded at a train station outside of Tel Aviv, where a mother heroically shielded her 9-month-old son during a terrorist attack. Inbar Segev-Vigder, identified as one of the victims, sacrificed her life to save her child, Ari. The heartbreaking event left Israel mourning the loss of seven lives, including Segev-Vigder and four other individuals: Revital Bronstein, Shahar Goldman, Nadia Sokolenko, and Ilya Nozadze.
The attack, carried out by two Palestinian men from Hebron, resulted in a shooting spree at a crowded light rail carriage. The suspects, who were later shot and killed by security forces and armed civilians, had no prior criminal records. Sixteen people were injured in the incident, with paramedics and police responding swiftly to provide aid.
Segev-Vigder, a resident of Tel Aviv and owner of a fitness and Pilates studio, was tragically gunned down while disembarking a train in Jaffa. Her husband, Yaari Vigder, an Israeli reservist soldier, expressed gratitude that their son Ari emerged unharmed due to Inbar's selfless act of protection.
Nadia Sokolenko, a Moldovan native and office manager, was among the victims, leaving behind a 6-year-old daughter. Friends described her as a creative and caring mother. Additionally, a Greek national residing in Jerusalem was also among the deceased, as confirmed by Greece's foreign ministry.
In the aftermath of the attack, Israel's Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich called for decisive action, advocating for the deportation of the terrorists' family members to Gaza and the demolition of their homes. The tragic events have left a community in mourning, with heartfelt condolences extended to the families of the victims.
